What Breathwork for Recovery offers
Founded in Los Angeles in 2015 by Nathaniel Hodder-Shipp (CADC-II, B.Msc.), Breathwork for Recovery runs group and individual breathwork sessions, work inside treatment centres, a weekly donation-based support group called The Recovery Circle, and an 800-hour Breathwork Clinician Certification (BCC) for practitioners and clinicians. The organisation is an approved continuing-education provider with the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT approved CE provider #146365). Its own site states plainly that "Breathwork is not a replacement for traditional therapy or psychiatry, nor is it a substitute for prescription medication."
Breathwork Clinician Certification (BCC)
An 800-hour certification (with a 1,000-hour option) described as "a hybrid of online coursework and in-person hands-on facilitation, to be completed in either 2 or 4 years with a time commitment of around 33 hours of work per month." Maximum 25 people per cohort.
Clinical Groups & Sessions
Group and individual sessions delivered inside treatment centres. Their site says groups "run between 60 and 90 minutes" and that facilitators are "at the minimum CADC tracked" with weekly supervision and a signed code of ethics.
The Recovery Circle
Described as "the first national weekly breathwork-based support group led by trained and certified breathwork practitioners endorsed by Breathwork for Recovery." One hour, Tuesdays 7:30pm PT on Zoom, donation-based and free for those who need it.
Private Sessions
One-to-one sessions of one hour or one hour and 15 minutes, beginning with a talking portion and moving into the breath practice. Sliding-scale work is offered to Black, Indigenous, Asian American Pacific Islander and other People of Colour in financial need.
Trainings & Workshops
A monthly "Become a Better Breathwork Practitioner" series for existing practitioners, taught a la carte by different faculty members. Their site states CAMFT CEs are offered for every training they hold.
Monthly Online Breathwork Group
A free/pay-what-you-feel online group. Their site: "We refuse to contribute to a system where healing is only available to those with resources."
